Councils and urban shopping centres
The LESS team employed logistics and project management skills to run an extensive program of product give-aways in shopping centres and other public places. Within six months we visited 45 centres, with a pool of around 25 casual staff. In this time we ordered, tracked and accounted for the stock, developed and maintained a customised database that meets IPART accreditation rules.
Over the period we distributed over 250,000 packets of bulbs and showerheads to householders. If 80% of the products were installed in homes, participating residents would be responsible for around 1 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions reductions, equivalent to taking over 200,000 cars off the road in 1 year.
