The Federal Government today announced the immediate closure of the $8,000 means-tested solar PV rebate. The rebate had been scheduled to end on 30 June 2009. The rebate will be replaced with a Solar Credits system which will become available once the Renewable Energy Target (RET) legislation passes through Parliament next week.

Our previous Solar Power System offer was valid for those able to receive the $8000 rebate. With the end of the rebate we have ended the offer at that price.
About the new Solar Credits system
The Solar Credits system applies a multiplier of 5 to every single Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) created by the installation of a solar power system, up to the size of 1.5kW. Therefore, there is no rebate. But there is a five-times increase in the number of Renewable Energy Certificates that you can create. The total value of these carbon credits is likely to be under $8000 for a 1kW system, but it will depend on how many RECs your system produces and the current market price of RECs.
